I began Farmer Web Design in July of 2008 as a home-based business. I discovered my passion for web development and design when I created an online department page while at my previous job. At the time I was using tools from our Oracle Portal page which severely limited the creativity I wanted to achieve. To resolve this issue, I began researching some basic HTML and CSS and developed my own web page that you could access from a link on the Portal page. I really became interested in developing web pages when I was given the assignment to modify our PHP-based IT tracking system. I took a PHP course, refreshed myself on some HTML basics I had learned before and took it from there. At about this time I decided to quit my job and be a stay-at-home mom. To keep myself busy, I offered to create a web page for a family member's business. I used my PHP skills and intertwined my knowledge of HTML and CSS to make a fully dynamic web site.

After this project I realized that there were many businesses who either had web pages, but they were poorly built and not very easy to find on common search engines, or the business was very popular in their geographic area, but lacked the skills and/or money to take their business online. Once I discovered this, I decided that I could help those businesses achieve what every company wants; effective websites for a low cost. With my knowledge and skills I can help your business develop a web presence and ultimately increase profits and expand your customer base.

I have had experience working as a freelance developer and as a full-time web developer for a large international MLM company. I've taken classes and read books to expand my knowledge and can proudly say that I'm proficient in HTML, PHP, CSS, MySQL and Search Engine Optimization. Although I have worked for a large company, I much prefer to work with small businesses. Every businesses' needs are different and every one of them has much to gain by having a web presence. I love to teach others and love to help small business owners learn how to use the web to effectively market their business. The internet is an amazing tool that I believe every company should be a part of. I enjoy building websites for small businesses and would love to do it for yours.
